, heading into san jose, no problems to report. >>> in the meantime, daily city crews home the hillside collapse will hold up in the coming rain. city managers says they've spent nearly half a million dollars to shore up that hillside after a water pipe broke. crews have been working to replace soil and plants that were washed away in that slide. they say the hillside is still being monitored. >>> in the north bay, people working until that rain starts falling. a lot of them getting out yesterday to fill up their own sandbags. one woman telling us she plans to line her garage to keep that water out. >> we just want to prepare because we see water coming under the garage door. if it keeps coming down, who knows what could happen. >> we can tell you other people in that area are worried about all the leaves clogging the storm drains and causing flooding out there. a long list of people buying lante lanterns, flashlights and batteries. now, our very own storm watch coverage continues all morning long. we invite you to send in your weather photos and your video clips to newstips@nbcbayarea.

in san jose this morning. a police officer is injured and an all out manhunt an armed robbery suspect continues after a shootout on city streets. it started on highway 101 near 280 when police say officers spotted two men in a car that looked a lot like one used during four armed robberies used during the day. when officers tried to pull the car over, they sped off, leading officers on a chase. at that intersection, one of the suspects started shooting, grazing one officer as he ducked for cover. another officer in a second place car shot back hitting one suspect. the suspect ran away and was later caught and expected to survive, but his friend, the other suspect, also ran away and is still on the loose. the suspects are believed to be involved in a crime spree including armed robberies at a pizza parlor and a fast food restaurant scattered throughout the city. police are investigating the 42nd homicide of the year. officers say a man was shot and killed in the parking lot of a 7-11 store on south keily boulevard. the motive is unknown. officers say they are not sure whether this homi

of the hour, cristina loren is here in san jose outside the studio, with what happened and what is still to come, good morning, christina. >> hey, good morning to you, marla. we recontrolled roles, if you were on the summit earlier today and now, i'm live in san jose. san jose, you have not even felt the brunt of this storm. that is the case along the peninsula. it looks like the north face has been slammed the hardest. but what i can tell you about these shower, they are definitely steady and we're also getting very steady wind gusts from time to time making it hard to hold on to the umbrella. let's talk about where the showers are currently position and what's to come. right now, the front is primarily draped over the east bay and extends all the way southward to the santa cruz mountainses. i want to talk about some of the substantial wind gusts so far. as you may well know, this is now the windiest point of this storm system. 66 miles per hour, so far, clocked in el diablo la scatis, and 43 miles per hour. it's very unusual for san francisco to get wind gusts at 45 miles per hour and

roadwork until 11:00 this morning. westbound drive is looking good. >>> san jose police hope a reward will help entice the community to help them catch a second robber in a violent crime spree that killed an innocent bystander and injured an officer. kira klapper is at the san jose police department. >> reporter: good morning. the police officers association is offering a $10,000 reward, hoping someone can lead them to the accomplice of jonathan wilbanks together they went on a violent crime spree he's already under arrest, police are looking for his partner crime. they don't have a name or description both were said to be wearing ski masks. it began before 7:30 friday night when they robbed a little caesar's on story road, then a gas station, an hour after that a jack-in-the-box. police say the pair didn't hurt anyone until they reached the 7-eleven, where they shot and killed 22-year-old campbell resident in an attempted carjacking. police spotted the pair, the pair initiated a shootout with officers. one officer was grazed at the hip by a bullet before thened up catching wilbanks.

're here to specifically enlist the community's help. >> san jose police need you -- need you to help get a dangerous man off the streets. good afternoon. i'm tori campbell san jose police have a manhunt underway for a violent criminal suspected of killing an innocent man and opening fire on police officers. alex savidge has new information this noontime. shows us the new sketch just released and the increase reward being offered. >> reporter: san jose police are searching for the man depicted in this newly-released sketch, wanted in connection with the violent crime wave across the city. investigators say he and his accomplice, jonathan wilbanks, shot it out with officers friday night. willbanks was arrested but his partner got away. >> we're very concerned which is why we're here enlisting the public's help in getting the suspect in custody, why we've been working around the clock. police have not been able to identify this man who may or may not be in san jose. this morning, the mayor announced his office is doubling the reward money in this case. there's now $20,000 being offered. >>

to and from the east coast were canceled. at san jose one jet flight was canceled and in oakland one flight that was supposed to leave tonight has been canceled. >>> on wall street the stock market reopened after being closed two days. the dow fell ten points, the nasdaq was also down about ten but the s&p500 rose a fraction. >> a school district facing a lawsuit connected a 1990 sex abuse scandal. two women claim the former superintendent, former principal and former assistant principal failed to take action against accused teacher daniel witters chosing to protect their jobs instead of the students. >> a judge has ruled that victims of that deadly san bruno explosion can press for punitive damages. pg&e has settled dozens of claims from that explosion that killed eight people, injured many more and destroyed 38 homes. another 350 claims are headed for trial this january. plaintiffs say the blast was the result of intentional disregard for public safety. they want punitive damages pg&e as well as compensation. pg&e claims that the explosion was an accident. >> the damage from that east

favro is live in san jose. it's not sitting well with parents. >> reporter: no it really is not, jessica. the registered sex offender was volunteering here at this parish last month during a church festival. parents tell me there were hundreds of kids at that festival. when deputies questioned him, he produced a letter from the church that gave him authorization to be here at the school. tonight, both sheriff's deputies and the diocese are investigating that letter. >> the controversy centers over whether this man is a registered sex offender convicted of child molestation should have been volunteering in san jose at a pair irn. a parent alerted a sheriff's deputy working security that he was a sex offender. >> our deputy made contact with the man who was cooperative throughout the incident. made contact with mr. gear i. he did acknowledge that he was a sex registrant. our deputy confirmed it through dispatch. however, mr. gear i provided information that he had permission to be on school grounds by way of a letter from church officials that gave him permission to be there. >> surprising

jose's fame miss turkey trot -- famous turkey trot. we are in san jose in the middle of everything and i'm looking over your shoulder, this is one of the biggest thanksgiving day races in the country. >> reporter: yeah, that's right, and the costume contest is about to get underway. you can see there's some great costumes. there's indiana jones, we have super mario brothers, a robot. and even pacman, and it's going to be a lot of fun, judging is about to start, but in the next 45 minutes, the first race will begin. now, this is video of last year's turkey trot. it's the second largest race of its kind on thanksgiving day. a majority are participating in the 5 and 10 k. organizers have extended the deadline until 8:00 a.m., and we started seeing a lot more people starting to show up, and getting warmed up to race. >> i feel it's cool, like it's intimidated, but the fact that there are so many people you don't know, it's encouraging you to -- >> are you excited about burning calories? >> yeah, yeah. more excited about eating afterwards. >> reporter: all the registration funds raised

oakland, 53 mountain view. san jose low 50s. you are warmer this morning. and most locations gilroy, though, 47 degrees. so the 24-hour temperature change, looking at numbers mainly three to six degrees warmer from our coast around the bay. but we do have that cooler air mass with those temperatures dropping into the upper 40s near napa and santa rosa. about a half-mile visibility toward novato. a mile and three quarters santa rosa and napa looking at four-mile visibility, as well. throughout the day today we will look for the warmer afternoon with the numbers coming up to more spring-like readings. mid-70s downtown today and possible record warmth tomorrow through election day with more 80s around the bay than 70s. san benito county, southern monterey could reach 90 degrees by tomorrow. the warming begins today as the high pressure builds in from the eastern pacific. it will stay that way for the next 48 hours. by wednesday, though, a big drop. a midweek cool-down with numbers dropping at much at ten to fifteen degrees. then the rain comes overnight wednesday into thursday. light s
